Happy Veterans Day! To all active and retired military, your service and sacrifice are appreciated. To the families of our Veterans, thank you for your service and sacrifice. We know when one family member serves, everyone sacrifices. Today, Merced County will host their 17th Annual Veterans Day parade, two ways. AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN ACT (ARPA) DISTRICT 5 COMMUNITY MEETING
On Thursday, November 18th, Merced County will host an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) District 5 Community Meeting, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Romero Elementary School, 13500 W. Luis Road, Santa Nella. As a result of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, Merced County will receive almost $54 million. These funds can be used for a variety of efforts including:
- Public health response
- Negative economic impacts
- Replace public-sector revenue loss
- Investments in water, sewer, and broadband infrastructure.
In addition to the community meeting, you can also participate in a county-wide survey that will be used to provide insight to the Board of Supervisors on how best to use this one-time funding source, providing the highest and best use for all Merced County residents.
FOOD DRIVES
This year there are several local food drives that need your support. If you can buy a little extra and help those in our community this holiday season, please support one of the following:
- Los Banos Police Department – 8th Annual Food Drive
- Accepting Canned and Non-Perishable Food Items
- Now until December 17th
- Two drop off locations:
- Los Banos Police Department, 945 5th Street
- Mechanics Bank, 601 “I” Street
- Los Banos Rotary Club – Feed the Need; Many students in Los Banos go home Friday after school and have very little food in their homes to eat Saturday and Sunday before returning to school. The Rotary Feed the Need program provides students with a bag of non-perishable breakfast, lunch, and dinner food items to take home Friday after school.
