Let Freedom Ring

Happy 245th Birthday U.S.A.

On July 4th, we will celebrate our nation’s 245th birthday. From Brooke and I, we hope you have a safe and enjoyable celebration.  This is an extremely dry year, so if you are planning on hosting your own fireworks display, be sure to keep a fire extinguisher handy, avoid areas with dry brush or grass, and practice all recommended safety precautions.  Throughout District 5, there are a number of local non-profit organizations selling fireworks.  When you purchase locally, it’s an investment in our community.  These organizations all do good work and would appreciate your support.

For your safety and the safety of others, this year’s event is DRIVE THRU only. Thank you for your support.

Masks Required?

On June 15th, Governor Newsom reopened California.  You may have noticed that in some instances, people are still wearing masks.  Here is a short list of when masks are and are not required.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS MAY CHANGE:

  • Fully vaccinated individuals;
    • Masks are required when using public transportation including buses, trains, airplanes, taxis etc..
    • Masks are not required in most indoor businesses, restaurants bars or outside
    • Masks may be required when visiting a health clinic, hospital or your doctor’s office.
    • Masks may be required by your employer
  • Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals;
    • Masks are required when visiting indoor businesses, restaurants, or bars
    • Masks are required when using public transportation including buses, trains, airplanes, taxis etc.
    • Masks are required when visiting a health clinic, hospital or your doctor’s office.
    • Masks are required when outdoors with individuals outside of your household
    • Masks may be required by your employer

As CAL-OSHA and other regulatory agencies work through their ever-changing requirements, I am going to ask you to be patient with each other and be kind.  Many of our neighbors have chosen to continue to wear a mask and that decision should be respected.  The Westside is the Best side and that is directly because of the people, our neighbors and our communities. Let’s be patient with each other; kindness is always a good choice.
